Zillow is best known as a real estate resource. And if you’ve been on it long enough, you’ve likely encountered some listings that may have left you wondering what exactly you are looking at.
The Zillow Gone Wild Instagram page features images of these unusual homes. Some are worthy of an MTV Cribs spotlight, while others are complete head-scratchers because of their lack of logic.
We’ve collected a new set of photos for this list that’s part of our previous series. You may see something that catches your eye, whether in amazement or puzzlement.

It’s Been A While Since We’ve Seen A Nice Victorian So Here’s A Nice Victorian In New Hartford $595,000
Omg I live right by this! We just moved and as we were looking at houses we always joked we should buy it with our cousins who live nearby! Then it really did go up for sale lol.
Please Don’t Do This To Ur Listings I Can’t Resist!!!! $1,179,000
Gawd! 1.2 million almost, with gross old cabinets, bathroom and funky old carpets. The housing market is insane. That backyard is amazing though.
Bored Panda has featured some photos from the account over the last few years. As of this posting, it is still going strong, with nearly two million followers and counting.
While it still features the castle-like structures that many call home, a lot of these images show outrageous interior designs.
Here’s An 1860 43-Room Elizabethan Style Manor In Pawling, NY On 25.5 Acres That Per The Listing Comes With “Two Caretaker Homes, A Carriage House With Groom's Quarters, A Yoga Studio, A 12,000 Sq. Ft. Stable, Greenhouse And More” $6,500,000
Def feels like it should be a historical building that is preserved and people can pay to visit. I can imagine someone destroying this house and making it all beige, which would be so sad.

This Former Cincinnati Church Has A Very Gothy Exterior And A Really Cool Interior? From What I Understand From The Listing There Are 3 Separate Living Areas Within The Former Church And The Main Home Is Pretty Pretty Pretty Pretty Good? $1,649,000
Amazing heigh ceilings, spaces and windows but that's about it. I don't go to church and don't think i want live in one either.
Heating and cooling the place would be a nightmare with those incredibly high ceilings. Still gorgeous, though.
Load More Replies...German here and over the last decades a lot of unused churches have been refurbished to become homes here. Usually they are turned into apartments for older people and not into luxury houses. The way it is done here looks nice, but it's pretty wasteful space-wise and probably HELL on the heating costs
Like many successful ventures today, Zillow Gone Wild began during the pandemic in late 2020. Its creator, Samir Mezrahi, is proud of how it became an instant hit.
“When I decided to start the account, it completely took off from the start,” he said in an interview with Tulsa World. “Then, a few weeks later, Saturday Night Live did a sketch on Zillow, which made me feel like I was really onto something.”

If interested, it's at 79 Elanora Way Karalee in Queensland. But it looks like it's off the market at the moment
The outside appears to be modeled after the male and female anatomy parts. Inside is quirky but not terribly horrible.
In another interview with NPR, Mezrahi says he took advantage of the lockdowns when people spent a large chunk of their time browsing social media.
“It was, like, prime pandemic. Everyone’s working from home. Companies are saying you can live wherever you want. So people are moving, thinking about moving, or browsing Zillow just as a bored-on-your-phone thing.
“I kind of felt like there was an audience of people out there that are also doing this.”

Maybe The Most Perfect Mid Century Home We’ve Ever Seen In Sarasota Fl, Currently Listed At $899,000. 3 Bd, 1 Ba. 1,268 Sf
Did some digging (what is with these expired Zillow links, BP? Not cool), found out it was sold last year for 700 grand cash (https://www.sarasotamagazine.com/home-and-real-estate/2023/02/round-house-sold-midcentury-modern-sarasota). The sale did not include all the groovy midcentury furniture, but the owners love the place as is and plan on adding a pool in the back for their kids (when they have them). Sounds like more of an investment right now. Stunning photos of how it looked before: https://www.sarasotamagazine.com/home-and-real-estate/2021/03/home-tour-a-small-curvy-house-is-remodeled-with-midcentury-flair

Wonder where this is? The link no longer works. Must be a small town at that price. If there was a home anything like that near me, I'd snap it up in a second. (Even if Bigfoot wasn't included.)
Lmao! I remember learning to carpet clean like a pro. The guys who don't really clean leave those triangular shapes. If you're really cleaning you overlap your lines by 30% and leave one contiguous matte to the carpet fibers with no visible lines. Those triangle/cones come from moving to the top then angling to the side, instead of overlapping the top and pulling straight down. Y'all are advertising 1/2 clean carpet ; )
It's been done SO much better! https://www.boredpanda.com/bigfoot-selling-california-house-redwoods/
In an April interview with The Washington Post, Mezrahi shared his process of picking out homes for his page. If he wants to feature something for #MansionMonday, “It can’t just be a mansion; it has to be a mansion-plus.”
“It’s what you say you would do if you’re rich. When you’re a kid you would say you want all these things … they went through with it and did it all.”
I Don’t Think We’ve Ever Seen A 50s Home And This One Is Still Very 50s And Even Have Has 50s Appliances But The Coolest Thing May Be These Old Gadgets In The Workshop $174,950
I feel there's a sad story behind this one. Like, an elderly couple lived there (probably their entire lives) and never updated anything, and have now passed away and had no family to leave their belongings to.
I don't know if I agree. The decor is 1950s but it is very crisp and curated, like a deliberate style choice. The house itself was probably built in the 1920s (based on the style and architecture) and the wallpaper, furniture, cabinetry is pristine. They have payphones used as decor (very hipster) and collect a specific type of retro TVs. To me, this feels like a personal style than the remnants of a life.
Load More Replies...makes me think of fallout. xP but honestly, it's actually really cool, especially if all the appliances etc are in good working order, for 174k it's a vintage lovers dream!

I’m Not Saying This 1898 Victorian Is My Most Favorite Zillow Gone Wild House Ever But This Is My Most Favorite Zillow Gone Wild House Ever And It Comes With A Few Surprises??? $4,500,000
Price drop! It's down to 4 million and it's in Lexington, Illinois. Gorgeous house and I love how, other than maybe the modern shower and the pub in the basement, the upgrades for appliances and furniture all fit in so well. The backyard (ha!) houses the carousel, a pool, a couple of guest houses, a tennis court, the railway, and a go-kart racetrack. Real estate agent Lori Largen shared a similar experience of being “inundated” by calls after Zillow Gone Wild featured her listing. It was a 2,745-square-foot house in San Antonio with a cavern in its backyard.
“I just think it’s interesting to see what’s out there,” she said. “I wish I could find another property with a cave because then I could go back to all the people that wanted a house with a cave.”

Why is the listing in dollars if the house is in Sweden? Looks like a shamans house tbh.
Maybe because the dollar is a widely known and respected currency? If you say 1 million dollar, everybody knows that´s a lot, without having to convert it into their own currency. But 1 million swedish krona? that could mean anything.

Despite its popularity, many industry experts have also pointed out Zillow’s limitations. In one of our articles about the page in 2022, we spoke to realtor Jennifer LeBow and asked whether the site is a trusted resource.
“I would not necessarily avoid using it,” she said. “I would just be very clear on what to use it for. It will provide for-sale-by-owner properties as well as MLS-listed properties, which is good. However, for any kind of value estimate, it’s terrible.”

Kinda cool. The tower, which is obviously part of the original structure (build in 1928), gives it a prison feel for me, but that mural is pretty darn sweet. From the listing, it looks like part of the "Byzantine Room" painted by Nikolai Remisoff, one of only a handful of his murals that remains in existence. The house sold for 1.8 million in 2022: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/51-S-Mayflower-Rd-Lake-Forest-IL-60045/4897145_zpid/
Lake forest is a nice area in IL. Pretty high end properties. Same with Winnetka, IL.
Load More Replies...LeBow also briefly explained Zillow’s business model and how buyers may have difficulty finding a reliable agent.
“One of the worst things is that Zillow is designed to make money by charging agents for showing up on a listing as though they were the listing agent,” she said. “So consumers contact the agent who pops up, assuming that that agent will be knowledgeable about the neighborhood and the house.
“Most of the time, that is not the case and the buyer ends up with an agent who cannot properly represent them."

We’ve Never Said This Before But Here’s A Near Perfect Midcentury Modern In Oklahoma City, Ok. The Cunninghams on "Happy Days", the era I'm assuming this is supposed to be paying homage to, lived in an average-looking two-story house. I don't get a '10 bed + 19 baths'. Even a urologist wouldn't need that many toilets.
I always assume it's a combination of: each bedroom having its own ensuite, and wanting to spread the guest bathrooms throughout the house so that you don't have to run to the other side of the large building to get to one and so you have a sufficient number of them available for your guests when you have a large party. I mean, if you have the space and a staff to clean all those bathrooms, why not? I do wonder, though, how many of those extra bathrooms are actually half-baths.
